Alternative Break programs with Hofstra Hillel are immersive, transformative, and enriching. The programs take groups of students out of their regular surroundings and place them in different environments to engage in community service and experiential learning.
As part of short-term service projects, participants are challenged to see and understand difficult social issues such as poverty, literacy, and natural disasters.
Students explore how this work is integral to what it means to be a Jew.
Hofstra Hillel has sent dozens of students to New Orleans to repair the lives and
homes of people devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
In the past Hofstra Hillel offered students a trip to Los Angeles (Jan 3 - 10) and a trip to Central America (Jan 10 - 17th).
